Dop Course Outline
OS6003-B Fourier Optics Last Revised: 2024-10-17
Course Objectives “Fourier Optics is a fundamental course dealing with the propagation of optical wave either in the free space or in the optical system. This course is based on the result from the scalar diffraction theory to handle the interference and diffraction problems occured with the optical wave. In order to study more advanced courses, such as optical information processing or holographic optics, this course is the prerequisite course.“

Prerequisite

Textbook Introduction to Fourier Optics by Goodman

Topical Outline 1. Fourier Transforming and convolution.

2. Linear and Space-invariant System.

3. Scalar Diffraction Theory.

4. Fresnel and Fraunhofer Diffraction.

5. Fourier Transforming and Imaging Properies of Lenses.

6. Frequency Analysis of Optical Imaging Systems.
