OS6061 Laser and nonlinear optics Last Revised: 2024-03-08
Course Objectives Some selected topics on Lasers and nonlinear optics including the principles of lasers, laser system design, fundamental of nonlinear optics, lasers and nonlinear-optic systems, applications of lasers and nonlinear optics will be studied and discussed by covering both theoretical design principles and experimental realizations of systems. For this course, I suppose you have accomplished the courses “Electro-optics”, “Laser physics”, “Laser physics”, and “Waveguide optics” or have the equivalent background knowledge.  

Prerequisite

Textbook Textbook “Laser and nonlinear optics”, a course reader prepared by Prof. Yen-Hung Chen, National Central University, Taiwan (2011). Reference Books 1.“Principles of lasers”, by Orazio Svelto and David. C. Hanna, 3rd Ed., Plenum Press (New York, 1989). 2.“Nonlinear Optics”, 2nd edition, by R.W. Boyd, Academic Press (1992). 3.“Optical Waves in Crystals”, by Yariv and Yeh, John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
